Exploration Garden + Classroom Yurt

FAmily Restroom Building

Bookworm Gardens is excited to announce plans for the creation of a new Family Restroom Building! The restrooms will be located on Bookworm’s Core Site and will TRIPLE overall bathroom capacity. Read the full press release here.

The new Family Restroom Building, inspired by the book series An Egg is Quiet by Dianna Aston, will be located near the A Playhouse for Monster garden. The building will include multiple family friendly, ADA accessible restrooms, child and adult changing stations, and a care room for nursing mothers.

Bookworm needs the public’s support to reach their $1,000,000 goal and start construction. You can give via the link below or contact us to set up a meeting to discuss the project.

Exploration Garden

The new Exploration Garden, inspired by the book Swirl by Swirl (Joyce Sidman), will include multiple areas for interactive nature play. Learners in educational programming will be able to explore areas that contain: pretend play, large stumps for gross motor play, loose parts for fine motor play, nature art discovery, sensory play, and much more.

Bookworm Gardens would like to thank the current list of corporations and foundations for their support in contributing to the Family Restroom, Classroom Yurt, and Exploration Garden project so far: Cellcom Green Gift Program, First Congregational Church’s Service Board Grant, Garton Family Foundation, Kohler Company, Kohler Foundation Inc, Melitta S. and Joan M. Pick Charitable Trust, Packers Foundation, Ruth St. John and John Dunham West Foundation, Rhyan Charitable Trust, Terry M Kohler Family Foundation, and Zieve Family Foundation.

Classroom yurt

The larger construction project also includes a Classroom Yurt that will serve as a homebase for educational programs, including early childhood, summer camp, and preschool programs. This covered classroom space will include a wrap around deck and adjoining greenhouse entry space for learner cubbies.

As growth continues on our Core Site, Bookworm is also working to develop an expanded River Site along the Sheboygan River. The botanic garden recently announced the extension of their lease with the County of Sheboygan, to include 23.5 additional acres. The River Site will eventually be home to additional cultivated garden spaces, hiking trails, and a new education building.
