Volunteer at Bookworm Gardens

Individual Volunteers

Bookworm Gardens would not exist without the help of our amazing volunteers. From the moment the project began back in 1999, the majority of the work has been done by volunteers who share a passion for literature and gardening. We value the considerable talents offered by our volunteers, and consider them to be part of our Bookworm family.

 Join us! Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Garden Maintenance Worker

  • Reader in the Garden / Garden Docent

  • Special Event Assistant

  • Volunteer Educator for Field Trips

  • Tour Guide for Adult Tours

  • Handyperson

  • Youth Program

Group Volunteers

Bookworm is open to working with your group to create a volunteer experience that meets your needs! We partner with corporations, churches, high schools, non-profits, and other businesses to offer group volunteer opportunities. We can accommodate groups of 6 - 60 people for half day or full day volunteer positions in Late Spring, Summer, and Fall. Please note that all volunteer opportunities are outdoors.

Together, we will work on creating a project that benefits both you and the Gardens. Projects will vary depending on the season. Our current priority project is invasive species removal at our new River Site.

Youth Program

Bookworm Gardens has a terrific opportunity for enthusiastic, energetic and responsible middle and high school students! The Youth Program consists of Youth Volunteers and Camp Interns who provide valuable support for the mission of Bookworm Gardens: to inspire the love of books and nature in the young and young at heart.
